About Sunshine Coast University Hospital & Health Service:
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.
The SCHHS provides healthcare to a rapidly growing population. There has been significant investment in services over the past few years, in particular the establishment of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the Nambour General Hospital redevelopment. The SCHHS also delivers services through hospitals in Gympie, Caloundra, and Maleny. In addition, the SCHHS operates a residential aged care facility in Nambour and provides community health services and community mental health services through a range of stand-alone facilities located across the Sunshine Coast region.

About the position:
The Clinical Director of Mental Health and Specialised Services (MHSS) is a key leadership role within the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS). As part of a dynamic and expanding tertiary health service, the Clinical Director will provide high-quality clinical and non-clinical leadership across five hospital campuses, including the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
This role involves substantial responsibility and accountability for the service's clinical, operational, safety, and performance outcomes. The Clinical Director will lead the provision of psychiatry services in alignment with professional standards and Queensland Health policies. This includes influencing care delivery beyond traditional boundaries, managing people, and making sustainable financial decisions.
The position requires significant expertise in clinical and operational management, and the ability to drive improvements in service quality, patient safety, and organisational performance. The Clinical Director will work collaboratively with multi-professional stakeholders, lead transformation initiatives, and ensure high standards of clinical practice. This role reports to the Service Director MHSS and the Executive Director Medical Services, and includes responsibilities in strategic planning, budget management, human resource management, and fostering a research culture. The successful candidate will be a highly experienced leader with a proven track record in managing complex mental health services and a commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care.

Requirements
Selection Criteria:
Applicants will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate the following key requirements, knowledge, and experience. Within the context of the abovementioned key areas of responsibility, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- A Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a registered tertiary institution is required.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Specialist in Psychiatry.
- The candidate should hold or be eligible for a joint/affiliate clinical academic appointment with a partner University of the Sunshine Coast HHS.
- Certified copies of qualifications must be provided before starting clinical duties.
- Previous managerial or leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Evidence of active participation in a Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD).
- Employment with SCHHS is subject to you obtaining and maintaining credentialing relevant to your role.
- Adherence to National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and the Safe Care (Clinical Governance) Framework is required.
- The role may involve on-call services, continuous shift rotations, and travel to various facilities within SCHHS.
- Compliance with infection control requirements, including Hepatitis B vaccination and proof of immunity against other Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD), is mandatory.
- Staff must adhere to infection control practices, including being bare below the elbows in clinical areas.
