The primary purpose of the role of Director Eating Disorders in the Peter Beumont Eating Disorders Service is to provide clinical, operational and strategic leadership for the Peter Beumont Eating Disorders Service within the Mental Health Service of Sydney Local Health District.
Peter Beumont Eating Disorders Service is the tertiary adult eating disorders service for NSW. It is a State-wide eating disorders service based at Professor Marie Bashir Centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital comprises the 9-bed inpatient Peter Beumont Unit, statewide outreach service and intensive outpatient program. The Service
also works in close collaboration with the Medical Leaders, Eating Disorders Sydney Local Health District, the Department of Endocrinology, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Sydney LHD Virtual Hospital in providing pathways from primary and secondary care.
Suitably qualified applicants may be eligible for Conjoint or Affiliate appointments through the Central Clinical School in the University of Sydney. There is ample scope for research collaboration with Inside Out Institute (IOI), the National institute for research, translation and clinical excellence in eating disorders. IOI is a collaboration between University of Sydney and Sydney Local Health District. The role attracts a Managerial Allowance commensurate with agreed responsibilities at Mental Health Service and/or SLHD level (in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
The Director will work as one of two psychiatrists in the Peter Beumont Eating Disorders Service which has comprehensive inpatient, ambulatory and outreach components including a well-established Project Echo program. They will provide clinical advice, support and capacity building to referrals from across the State.
The Director will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
Requirements
Current medical practitioner, registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award
