headspace National has been commissioned by the NSW Ministry of Health to deliver on the NSW Government COVID-19 Recovery Package. An important component of this program is to increase access to psychiatry, including via telepsychiatry, for young people and headspace centres in metro, regional and rural NSW.I

You will be involved in:

Working with young people

Young people access highly qualified psychiatrists to receive diagnostic and management advice through their GP referral via a headspace centre.

Building team capacity

Supporting and building the expertise of local health workforces, including GPs, by providing access to a psychiatrist for case management advice and clinical supervision.

Presenting webinars for headspace centre teams

Webinars are tailored according to priority topics and also provide the opportunity for headspace centre multi-disciplinary team members to interact with our psychiatrists.

Requirements

headspace Telepsychiatry is growing and we are seeking interest from experienced child and adolescent, youth and adult psychiatrists who are looking for flexible ways to work in their private practice - to support young people and clinicians in 38 headspace centres in NSW, as well as centres in other States/Territories across Australia.

We will take care of all your administration including appointments, liaising with centres and billing so you can focus on providing valuable support to both young people and their clinicians across Australia. All referrals are reviewed by the telepsychiatry team to ensure they meet the criteria for Medicare billing and they are assigned to the psychiatrist based on their needs. 

To be part of the team we require that you:

• have current APHRA registration as a psychiatrist
• be an established Private Practitioner in NSW or other State/Territory
• possess experience in providing health services to young people
• be willing to obtain a CrimCheck (Police Check) through headspace
• be willing to obtain Working with Children Checks in all States and Territories
• have current professional indemnity and medical malpractice insurance.
