


















Description
The University Health Service provides a comprehensive health service to all students and staff at UNSW, Kensington. The focus of this accredited General Practice is on student health and as such we see a high number of students with mental health conditions. The Health Service also has an important Public Health and preventative focus. The service provides 200-250 consultations daily and is open Monday to Friday. There are 11 consulting rooms and a well-equipped treatment room. There are 17 GP’s who work varying hours,3 full time equivalent nurses, and a full time mental health nurse. We have an excellent practice manager and 3 full time equivalent administration assistants. We work closely with the UNSW Psychology and Wellness counselling department who are located in the same building.
Historically we have had 2 psychiatrists working one day a week each at our practice. We are looking for a psychiatrist to work 1 or 2 days at our practice seeing students in need.
The Health Service is fully set up for clinical staff to deliver both face to face and telehealth options for appointments.
The role is constrained by and operates under the University governance framework and the necessity to be in alignment with a range of Federal and State legislation, audit and compliance requirements.

Requirements
Expressions of interest are being sought from suitably qualified Psychiatrists with a:
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, and appropriate Specialist Qualifications.
- Current unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration.
- Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1973 and the relevant Award/Determination.
- Current living and working rights in Australia.
- Current clinical practice of a high standard. Experience working with young adults and adolescents an advantage but not a compulsory requirement.
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and working within Work Health & Safety principles
- Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development since attaining specialist qualification consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family and carers as appropriate, colleagues and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team.
Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and Working with Children Clearance.
