About the Role
We are seeking a Psychiatry Locum (Senior Registrar) to provide inpatient psychiatric care under consultant supervision. This role includes comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and discharge coordination, ensuring continuity of care for patients transitioning to outpatient programs.
You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to patient-centered care and clinical excellence. All activities undertaken will be with appropriate consultant psychiatrist supervision.

Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient admissions including risk assessment, physical examination and initiate management plan.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnosis and develop treatment plans in consultation with a supervising Consultant Psychiatrist.
- Implement effective discharge planning and referrals to day programs.
- Respond to urgent clinical situations and provide emergency assessments.
- Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings and group programs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with statutory requirements under the Mental Health Act.

Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA.
- MBBS or equivalent, with completion or undertaking of advanced training in psychiatry.
- Understanding of statutory requirements under the Mental Health Act.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently (under supervision) and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Pre-employment police check required.
