About the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub
An exciting opportunity exists to be part of the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Services (‘Local’) which are being rolled out across Victoria as part of the ongoing reforms following the Victorian Royal Commission into Mental Health. The Dandenong Local will be an important new part of Victoria’s reformed mental health and wellbeing system, and Monash Health will play a key role as part of the partnership consortium.
The Dandenong Local consortium partners include Foundation House, Southeast Monash Legal Service, Thorne Harbour Health as well as agency lead Mind Australia. Locals will offer a range of mental health and community-based services that aim to support some of the most vulnerable members of the community in the Southeast of Melbourne. The vision of the Local service is to provide an easily accessible way to access support and treatment for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health concerns, including people with co-occurring alcohol and drug treatment and care needs.
About the Role
This is a 0.2 EFT fixed term position until 30 June 2028 subject to extension.
As the Addiction Consultant Psychiatrist at the Dandenong Mental Health and Wellbeing Local, you will provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment for people experiencing addiction and co occurring mental health difficulties. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality, recovery oriented, integrated care within a multidisciplinary, community based setting. Working in partnership with Mind Australia and consortium partners, you will:
- Provide primary and secondary psychiatric consultations
- Conduct comprehensive mental health and addiction assessments
- Address both mental health symptoms and addiction related harms
- Contribute to complex care planning and integrated treatment pathways
- Provide clinical leadership in addiction psychiatry
- Supervise a psychiatry registrar clinically
- Uphold clinical governance across Monash Health and Mind Australia frameworks
- Your work will ensure that consumers with addiction concerns receive holistic, evidence based, person centred care.
Requirements
About You
What you need:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Fellowship of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP)
Desirable:
- Advanced Certificate of Addiction Psychiatry
