Provide clinical services in adult psychiatry at level of Consultant to Top End Mental Health Service (TEMHS) as required, participate fully in activities of the Northern Territory Clinical School in particular the teaching of psychiatry to medical students and in the Postgraduate Psychiatry Training Program of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP).
The Top End Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (TEMHAODS) provides individualised, coordinated and effective health assessment, case management and recovery focused treatment services, and develops prevention, promotion and early intervention strategies in collaboration with other agencies. TEMHAODS have integrated their service delivery structure to maximise patient continuity, reduce duplication and complication of service access points, enhance service integration and ultimately provide a better outcome for the patients.
Your key duties include the admission, management and discharge of patients under the supervision of the Directory of Psychiatry and fulfilling statutory requirements under the Northern Territory Mental Health and Related Services Act. You will practice in accord with TEMHAODS philosophies, policies, procedures and standards, including establishing and maintaining appropriate client records and participating in after-hours on call roster.
To be successful you are required to be eligible for appropriate registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and have a good understanding of the role and function of inpatient and community based, multi-disciplinary mental health services.
