Join us in the brandnew Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Geraldton Health Campus, located in one of Western Australia’s most dynamic and diverse regions.
We are seeking passionate Consultant Psychiatrists to help deliver highquality mental health care in a purposebuilt, modern facility.
This recruitment pool will fill current vacancies (2.0 FTE) with opportunities for permanent, fixed-term, full-time, part-time, and sessional appointments, with potential for extension(s).

Geraldton Health Campus is undergoing a major transformation, supported by a $190.3 million redevelopment. This investment is creating a regional centre of excellence with brand-new facilities, including:
- A purpose-built Mental Health Inpatient Unit
- Expanded Emergency Department
- New Intensive Care Unit
The new 15bed mental health unit, including 4 PICU beds, is co-located with the Community Mental Health Clinic, creating seamless integration and continuity of care for patients.
Our Midwest Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service provides holistic, multidisciplinary care across inpatient and community settings. Our service model embraces pharmacological, behavioural, and therapeutic interventions, with strong support from experienced clinicians and a committed leadership team.
You’ll join a highly respected medical team, including:
- Director of Clinical Services – Mental Health
- Seven Consultant Psychiatrists
- Seven Trainee Registrars & RMOs
- Two Interns

About the Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping mental health care across the region. Your responsibilities include:
- Delivering clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment for adults in both inpatient and community settings (including ECT when required)
- Providing expert leadership, consultation, and guidance to GPs, health professionals, service providers, and carers
- Collaborating with key stakeholders—including the Chief Psychiatrist and community partners—to ensure coordinated, personcentred care
- Contributing to service development, planning, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives

You will report to the Director of Clinical Services – Mental Health and work closely with an experienced, friendly team dedicated to delivering exceptional care.
Requirements
About You
We are looking for Consultant Psychiatrists who:
- Are eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a specialist in psychiatry
- Hold, or are eligible for, Fellowship of RANZCP (or approved equivalent)
- Bring extensive clinical experience in general mental health
- Have a passion for regional healthcare and collaborative team-based practice
