About the roles
Exciting opportunities are available for qualified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (Senior Medical Officers) who want to make a positive impact while working in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, and supportive team. We are looking for Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists who are passionate about delivering quality care to our patients.
As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for our young patients experiencing mild to severe mental health disorders. Your work will directly contribute to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents in our community.
You will be joining a collaborative, values-driven team all with a shared purpose: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. We strive to provide a supportive, flexible working environment for all our staff.

About you
To work as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (Senior Medical Officer) in New Zealand, you must become registered to practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Practitioners must meet competency standards and hold Annual Practising Certificates (APCs) to work safely and effectively.

Salary and benefits
Senior Medical Officers receive 6 weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays, giving you time to explore our beautiful country and raise a family in our diverse communities. Along with your base salary as a Senior Medical Officer, you will have an annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance of NZ $16K (pro-rated for part-time employees), reimbursement of your registration and practising certificate fees and your professional indemnity insurance is covered by Health New Zealand.
Senior Medical Officers receive a base salary relative to their level of experience.
- Medical Officers annual salaries range NZ $142K - NZ $210K plus allowances
- Medical Specialists annual salaries range NZ $185K - NZ $267K plus allowances
Additional allowances are paid on top of base salary and vary due to location and service.
